“I recently bought a Fender Vibrolux Custom Amp but was dismayed to find that amp has a design flaw that causes a huge amount of background hiss, rendering the amp unusable in the studio. Jeff and I exchanged some emails on the issue and I was greatly impressed with his knowledge of the issue and the options I had for fixing the amp; Jeff is clearly passionate about tube amps! — Within 24 hours of dropping off the amp Jeff had turned the Vibrolux into the amp I have always wanted; a Fender Vibroverb. The hiss was gone and the tone was fabulous. — Since then I have been back twice to see Jeff as I needed the reverb and gain settings tweaked to match the sound I was looking for. The stock Fender reverb was dropped to be more subtle and the Vibroverb now starts to bite around 6 or 7 volume, giving me plenty of options for the different styles I record. — It was great working with Jeff and I am certain I'll be taking other projects to him in the future; if you're a serious player having an amp technician that can get the sound you want from a stock tube amp is a must.” —Dale C.
“The mods you performed are incredible! The people @ Mesa would soil themselves if they heard this head. Through the 4x12, this monster sounds like a bunker buster! The bass response is great, the overall tone still cuts through, and the gain (even though really dark and brutal :-)) is very touch sensitive. Very sweet lead tones. With the pronounced highs of the PRS, a perfect match. The sound leaps out of the cab like never before! Great job! — I am in love with the amp! This is how it should have sounded from the factory! The bass is insane, the gain is thick, overall I wish I could have all Stiletto owners hear this! Your mods / ideas hit the bullseye. What was a little knife is now a big bad ass battle worthy sword!” —Jeremy R.
“I took the amp out to the Cowboy Café with me last night. We play there once a month or so and it’s a small room…thirty people is a crowd. I’ve been using various amps in there trying to get something that will do the job to my satisfaction without hurting the folks out front and the bar owner. The work you did to my amp was the answer to my problems. As you can see in the pictures the amp is a Blues Junior chassis that I put in a Mojo 2x10 tweed Super Cabinet with a pair of Jensen Alnico 10” reissues. — Your 6V6 mod, the stand-by switch and the other tweaks you did to the amp made it a perfect small room amp. I used a St. Blues Mississippi Bluesmaster with humbucking pickups last night. I set the amp, Master 10, Mids 1, Bass 5, Treble 12 Presence/Bright full and Volume 10…it was amazing. I generally control everything from the guitar controls and everything was there, great clean rhythm with bass to spare and nice jangly Fendery stuff too. When I’d run the volume knob on the guitar up, the little guy just roared…smooth 6V6 overdrive on single note stuff and great grind for big chords…all with good note definition. I really couldn’t ask for more. I don’t use pedals or distortion boost stuff so it’s important for my amps to do the job. It’s great to have a usable low wattage amp that sounds big and doesn’t attract trouble from the volume police. I hope you don’t mind but I took one of your business cards and made a little logo to stick on the back of my amp, you can see it in the last picture. Thanks again Jeff for a great job.” — Cliff S.
“I want to thank you for your help and compliment your excellent work! The tone stack and the 6V6 conversion with the Mercury transformer you did on my Blues Junior made it sound much much better. It is hard to find people that do quality work these days. I can only give high recommendations. I still can't believe the difference the mods made in the sound. Sounds bigger, clearer with more clean head room which is exactly what I asked for. Sounds good with both single coils and humbuckers. The first thing I noticed is how much quieter the amp is. I'm very happy with the results. I would also like to thank you for all the Emails keeping me informed of the progress, and for the extra effort you took in shipping the amp back. — If I ever have any amp problems I will send them to you. — Thanks again for all your consideration and excellent, excellent work!” — Steve S.
